Go to Mohegan Sun.... I like it SOOOOO much more. I've never stayed though... I run out of money long before I get tired enough to need a room....

I loved Foxwoods. But I had nothing to compare it to! I was young, it was my first casino experience, before I'd ever been to Vegas, so I was like a kid in a candy store. I still do love me some Caribbean Stud. I don't have any experience with staying there, but I had an absolute blast going there. Have a nice time.

I'm going with a group of girlfriends on March 25. We're staying at MGM. I don't gamble, but I'm soooo looking forward to a getaway.

If you go to Foxwoods, stay at the MGM hotel. The other hotels are fine, but are a bit dated. I would look online for specials and I would also call and ask about specials directly. Sometimes hotels will only mention specials if you ask specifically.

Mohegan Sun is down the road so you could stay at one hotel and visit the other. BTW, I have found Foxwoods to be much cheaper for hotel stays than Mohegan, especially if there are concerts on the dates you are staying. hth!

My girlfriend made the reservations. Her husband goes there often and I think he was able to redeem some special points?? I'm not sure of the details. sorry I couldn't be more help.

Are you going on a weekend or weekday? Weekdays there are almost always deals to be had. Weekends are trickier. I've stayed at them all except the MGM (before kids mostly!). Pequot Tower is fine. You honestly won't be spending much time in the room likely so as long as it's halfway decent (which it is) it should be fine.

I like Foxwoods MUCH better for gambling but shopping/dining is much better at Mohegan Sun. I find it very cramped and dark at Mohegan Sun but I've actually heard that now that they reopened the poker room that poker room isn't bad. But we almost always go to Foxwoods...probably about once/month or two or so. Maybe less now that we have to find a sitter though!

Another one that prefers Mohegan Sun but really, you will have fun at either.

Mohegan has much more style than Foxwoods. To me, Foxwoods is like an indoor mall from the 80s with some gambling thrown in. We've never stayed at either so I can't comment on hotel accommodations.

I live right in-between the two. I can see Mashantucket (the tribe that owns Foxwoods) land from my backyard.
I have never stayed at any of the hotels, but we have had guests stay there. We like Mohegan much better for the shopping and dining. It seems much more like a little bit of Vegas in CT. There are also hotels around Mohegan that have shuttles and are fairly nice - like the Hyatt Place, which opened last summer. It's a lot cheaper to stay at one of the off-site hotels most of the time. The off-site hotels around Foxwoods are much more motel-ish.

You must live near my sister. She's in Oakdale. I haven't been to the casinos in a long time. When we visit now there are 5 kids, 4 of which are 3 and under so not much time for the casinos! We do though always go to a nice park on one of the reservations, not sure which one though.

But I think it's kind of the opposite. Foxwoods is a place to gamble but people really wanted shopping/dining so they threw that in. I almost never ever shop there and when we eat it's at Panera or something like that, but for pure gambling, I would go there. If I was just going for the experience and I *wanted* to shop/eat and maybe just play a few slot machines I think Mohegan is probably the place I'd want to be. But since I spend the whole time at the poker tables (once in awhile bingo), I'd much rather be at Foxwoods!

It's true I haven't been to Mohegan in a little while but I just found the casino itself not very impressive. But it has name stores and name dining and Foxwoods has none of that at all but I don't think that's the "vibe" it's going for--IYKWIM?

About 30 minutes or so, I believe.

I hear you. What I meant by mall atmosphere is the lighting, the low ceilings, the lack of design continuity, like a casino was not in the original blueprints.

I prefer the high ceilings, the theming, attention to detail, the dining at Mohegan. But I like to walk around, play some games, eat, wander around some more. You sound like you're more of a gambler than I am so I'll defer to your assessment of the gaming itself, sounds like Foxwoods is a good place for that.

Hey CT mommas:wavey:. I have stayed at the Foxwoods owned motel on the property. It was nice enough. I think the casinos are about 15 years old, so they can't be *that* dated. Inside, I prefer Mohegan, have had better luck  there and find it easier to navigate, as well as slightly more conventiently located. But you will have fun anyway. There is also a outlet mall in Westbrook with TCP and Carters.
