A friend would like to get a Trip Trapp styled highchair for when her grandchild comes to visit but doesn't have the budget for something that costs as much as a Trip Trapp does. I thought I'd previously seen posts about look alikes that sold for much less, but I can't remember the brands/stores.

Any recommendations?

I think Keekaroo and One Step Ahead both have knock-offs for about $100.

We have the Keekaroo and really like it! The child has to be able to sit on his own well because the back support is low (ie, no upper back/head support). There are two versions, one that has an attached T-bar and seat pad (the T-bar can later be removed), and one that doesn't. There is an infant insert for the one without the T-bar, which we have, and costs an extra $50. WE got ours through Sears.

Thank you. I am going to tell my friend about these.

The one that is an almost exact knock-off is the Hipposmile, but I haven't heard much about it lately. It used to be sold on Amazon and also on Ebay.

We have the Kettler one, the style is slightly different but the concept is the same. IIRC we paid about $120-130 on sale.

I love my Keekaroo! No regrets, and highly recommend it!
