Someone (not from the BBB) recommended by e-mail that I read something by Mel Levine in relation to some of dd's struggles with reading. I looked on amazon, and I cant quite decide which one would be best. If anyone has read his books, which would you recommend? Thanks!

I read A Mind at a Time... it's good. That's the one I always hear recommended.

Oh my! That's awful. I don't think 7 different families could have made things up. Doesnt make me feel okay about buying his book. Any ideas about similar resources?

I did the intensive Schools Attuned training, which is a huge part of his work. Despite that personal stuff, I think it is extremely focused, comprehensive way of looking at kids with learning differences. After being a classroom teacher for 12 years and getting my Master's in school counseling, I STILL found great information and processes in the training. I have the book, but did not read it because I had just finished the training when DD was born. It is on my "to read" shelf.
