Looking for a birthday gift for a 2 year old girl. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking about the barbie tricycle.

Thanks

How much are you wanting to spend? I don't have any experience with the tricycle you're talking about - is it the Fischer Price Barbie one? If you are not the parent of the birthday girl, you might want to check with the parents to see if they already have a tricycle, or if they were planning to get a specific kind for their daughter. This is the kind of thing I think a lot of parents enjoy picking out personally for their child. Also, I think most 2 year-olds are not famiiliar with Barbie, so the Barbie-ness may be kind of a miss for 2 year-olds and may or not be appreciated by the parents of 2 year-olds. You might want to check with them to see what kind of ride-ons they already have and might need.

We bought my DD Magna-Tiles for her 2nd birthday and they were a huge hit, both with her and her older sister. She learned to use them right away. They are kind of pricey, though.

Other ideas:
Lego Duplo
Playmobil 123 set
Toy food (Melissa and Doug cookie set is a hit, they make other nice food sets that are easy to find)
These 9 piece jigsaw puzzles by eeboo are perfect for 2 y.o.s who are learning to do jigsaw puzzles. Each edge is a different color. My DD was wild for them: http://www.amazon.com/eeBoo-Life-Earth-Piece-Puzzles/dp/B002PDSNYU
Musical Instrument
Kids Music CD
Art Supplies
This type of puzzle where the pieces make up different parts of the picture is also good. I wouldn't recommend the peg-type puzzles for a 2 year-old. They are too easy and will be outgrown quickly. This kind is good: http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/media/images/products/large/gg694_l.jpg

Dress-up clothes, costumes
Simple Haba game for young ages. My DD loves this one: http://www.oompa.com/baby-toys/item/HA3179/Haba-My-First-Games---Feeling-and-Touching.html?oompaItem=Haba_My%20First%20Games%20-%20Feeling%20and%20Touching
