Long Tern Digital Photo Storage

I am wanting to hear what is the best way to keep digital pictures long term. Are cds going to go the way of floppy disks? So what is the best, not to expensive way to keep digital pictures long term?

I'm starting to save them to flash drives. Basically in sets of X number of months and in pairs of two (for backup). Keeping one set at my house and the other set gets mailed to my parents.

for physical storage, i use flash drives. i've heard there is less chance of data loss. i often get unreadable disc errors on cds. the challenge is not losing the tiny drives...

i have a backup on the cloud, which in my instance is idisk/mobile me.

Where do you buy the flash drives? Any particular brand / model drives to purchase? TIA
