I would like to take my grandparents on an African safari.
If you have been on an African safari, and you loved your experience, please recommend it. Considering Kenya and Tanzania.

We did and loved it. :) It was 10 years ago, but the person we used is still around and still gets good reviews.

His name was Mike Toogood and he is based in England: http://africa-safari-direct.com/en/

Sounds like so much fun! I have never been but I did really enjoy Peter Alison's Whatever You Do, Don't Run: True Tales of Botswana Safari Guide.

I have lived in kenya until I was 5. So this was about 25 years ago. I know something about the area but not sure if I should do a safari tour.

I am also considering just flying into Nairobi and drive around on my own

Has anybody done that? Am I taking on too much?

Sorry, I have a little more time now. We spent a little over 2 weeks on the ground in Kenya and Tanzania. We broke up the trip with a few days in London on either side to make the time change easier. We did about 4 days in Kenya and the rest in Tanzania.

There were 3 of us, (DH, myself and his sister) and we had a private tour which was so worth it because we set our own itinerary, could linger over some things, choose to skip some of the things we had no interest in, etc.

It is truly the most amazing trip we've ever taken.

This was the safari company we used: http://www.rangersafaris.com/

We would love to go again some day.
