Oahu or Maui?

Planning a trip to Hawaii to see the volcanoes but wondering if our second island should be Oahu or Maui. I've been to both, Oahu many times, but mostly for work and not with kids. Not sure what all we will do there but wondering which island is best for kids. We have 3--boys ages 9 and 5 and a 21 month old daughter.

Maui. It's much prettier IMO. There are many family resorts.

We like Maui much better than Oahu.

The Ko'Olina area in Oahu is quite pretty. We've been to Maui many times and last year we went to Oahu. The food is definitely cheaper in Oahu and quite tasty. I thought I wasn't going to like Oahu because the first time I went 10 years ago we stayed on Waikiki Beach. But with Ko'Olina, I fell in love!

I'm a geologist...we went to Hawaii a few years ago to see the volcanoes. You'll love it. I hope the vog isn't bad for you.

With kids, I prefer Oahu. There's a lot for kids to do there (off resort, of course). Without kids, Maui or Kauai.
