Does anyone rock this look? I have a bad back and wearing heels always tends to bother my lower back. I was looking at the LE Canvas site and saw this:

http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/MiniSkirt~220547_-1.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::OD8&CM_MERCH=IDX_00017__0000002209&origin=index

She looks cute. I'd love to be able to look a bit more dressed during the summer but still wear sneaker-type shoes. Does any real person actually dress like this though?

These are the sneakers and they've gotten good reviews for comfort/support:

I thought they might be cute with this dress too:

I like the Tretorns. Very classic/preppy. Sorry, I am not a fan of oxfords.

I dislike the oxfords too. But I thought the sneakers would look cute with that dress :)

I think the sneakers would look cute with the denim dress. I also have a bad back, but I still prefer sandals with dresses/skirts in the summer. I have had great luck with Cole Haan sandals with Nike Air for a perfect balance between comfort and fashion. I try to grab a pair or 2 each year while at 70% off or higher. For example, I have a pair similar to these: http://www.amazon.com/Cole-Haan-Angela-Slide-Woodbury/dp/B002PMVRNK/ref=sr_1_29?s=shoes&qlEnable=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1298749653&sr=1-29&searchContext=B003YU7N9O,B002PMVRVC,B002PMVRYE,B00 2PMVT9M,B002PMVRNK,B00264FE5E,B002PMVYS8,B0041QJW7 Q,B003UANAY0,B00264FCJW,B001G86JBE,B003PNW9VW,B002 2B5348,B002PMVSJI,B000FAN25A,B00263L3DW,B002GHCMXS ,B002PMVWY4,B004DFE3Z6,B00264FDF0,B003ZYGDFY,B0026 3L13E,B002LVVB9U,B002PMVROY

I have also been very comfortable in these dressier Teva flip flops that I purchased for $16: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G8X6B0

I love the Tretorns. I had a few pair of Tretorns in high school. :)

I have 2 pair of Superga shoes. In white and another pair in orange.

FWIW, I do NOT like the oxfords at all.

You might also look at Merrell's. They have some really cute and super comfy styles that would look cute with dresses/skirts. I like the Encore style.

I just got a pair of white converse. I really like them and wore them with a black St John's dress (my heals were killing me) and they were cute although not high style.

Love the look and the canvas shoes. Another nay for the oxfords. I don't like sore feet so I wear casual shoes and flip flips 99% of the time. The trick is to wear low-heeled socks so they don't show. The ones I bought at the Polo outlet store are nice. They barely peak out of my shoes and they stay on.

I like the canvas tennies look. I think they're fine with casual skirts/dresses.

I haven't done this in a long time, but thanks for the reminder that canvas sneakers and sundresses are adorable!

All summer long. I gave up shorts and wear skirts and dresses with tennies all the time. It's a great look!

So, do you all wear no socks or low rise thin socks with them (you know the kind that barely show). My feet sweat in the summer ( I did buy some of the foot spray Bubbaray suggested), but IDK if I could wear canvas sneaks wo/some sort of low sock. Would that look dorky?

no socks with skirts/dresses.

i have some really low, no show socks that i think i can pull off with chucks, i think it helps that they are both white. but the sock does not stick out past the edge of the shoe at all. but i only wear socks when i''m wearing jeans.

Wow, those black oxfords are awful! What were they thinking? The sneakers are cute :)

I tend to prefer slip on sneaker styles rather than lace up w/ dresses, etc. This is what I wear w/ capris. Something along these lines:

ITA, if you wear socks they shouldn't show and should be the same color as the shoe. Do you remember where you found your low cut socks?

ETA: This thread is also making me want to get some white converse!

So long as you don't mind looking like a kid or a hooker, right? ;) (per the cute shoe thread, in case any wondered about that reference)

Thanks! I just ordered the Columbia one in Dune. It looks really cute for jeans, shorts, casual skirts, etc.

I just got back from Sears and they had Tretorns on clearance for less than $20. They had the white ones and the blue ones.
It is a YYMV thing.

Ooh, forgot about those. LE carries them, right? I wonder if they run narrow.

i have a couple. my favorites are more like peds but i got them from BR about 10 yrs ago. i also have some from costco, the kb brand. but those show more.

i was at nordstrom today, walking thru the shoe dept. and saw a girl trying on shoes. she was wearing some that looked like the ones i have from br but they hand vans written across the toe. i'm going to google them right now because they seem perfect, i don't think that they would show.

salsah

okay, i search for them but couldn't find something as low the ones that i saw today. it could have just been the way that they fit this girl makes them look different. but i also didn't see any that said vans across the toes. anyway, if you are interested, you can try searching for "vans canoodle socks".

i'll keep looking but i really need to go to bed right now.

These Vans socks look like they might be even lower than the canoodle ones?

Thanks for the Vans link. They seem very similar to the peds I got. I also saw some that were specifically designed for Chuck Taylors (very high vamp, but really low in the back.

I just saw this in my Garnet Hill magazine over the weekend. Looks really cute with the sneakers. I might have to try something like this out for the summer.

Sorry, forgot to mention, it was some random find at TJMax. I haven't seen them at any other TJ Max. I didn't get them b/c they seemed thick (like a sports sock) and had a funky design on the toe (I know you wouldn't see it, but it bothered me).
