Not sure what else to call it but I've heard about the teach me time clock

Are there others I should consider? They boys keep getting up at 5 am.

we have that clock and it works OK. My DD is an early riser though and there seems to be no way around that. I have had moderate success in getting her to go back to bed until the "green light turns green". Overall, I'd say it is worth it...I just haven't done a good job since moving to VA of reinforcing that she cannot get out of bed until the clock light is green.

We have the teach me time for DD1 and really like it. The glow is very soft so it isn't so bright that it will wake or keep the kids up. We have our set to turn yellow at 7pm (just before her bedtime) and stay yellow until it turns green at 6am (she likes to get up at 5am!). We like that if she comes wandering in our room in the wee hours all we have to do is ask her if her clock is green yet. If she says no she realizes that she has to go back to her room. We haven't found that it has helped her to sleep in longer but it does keep her in her room and quiet and it cuts way down on the battles/tantrums of sending her back to her room. She just knows to do it.

We just moved dd to her big girl bed this week though so not much time to encorporate the clock too. She does get excited if she wakes to it green already. My sister has used it w/great success w/her kids. My 7 year old wants one now too!

I have the same one as Kbud for my DS and it's great. He is an early riser as well, it's just who he is. But he plays quietly in bed until the light turns green most mornings- we set it for 7. Occasionally he'll sleep "late" and since there's no sound it doesn't wake him early. The green light stays on for an hour so he just sees it when he wakes up.

When the kids were little, we had timers set to an Ikea wall lamp.

My son chose the green bug wall lamp and my daughter chose
the pink daisy wall lamp.

We set the timer for 7am. At 7am, the wall lamp clicks on. The kids
knew that they could get out of bed when their special lamp light
came on.

That's such a cute idea! I gotta steal that when DS is older. :)

We have the one you're looking at for DS2 and he comes downstairs every morning at 7:00 saying "My light turned green!!" So, yes, it works well for us....

we have the teach me time as well

just started using it about 2 months ago

we don't use the yellow nightlight part bc DS likes it really dark to sleep

so we just have it switch from off to green when it's time to wake

its been sort of working for us. he still wakes early and often we can hear him chattering in his crib and then when the clock turns green he starts yelling that it's green

but about 30-40% of the time, if he wakes way early (like an hour before hand - it's set for 6am), he will not patiently wait the hour. by about 5:30 he's yelling to ask where is the green clock

maybe he's still a little young

but in all. it has definitely helped. he knows he's supposed to wait for it.

this morning he actually woke at 5:30 and was babbling. and must have gone back off b/c next thing i knew, it was 6:40 - we slept in! :jammin:
