Cate's dress fit well with her style. She dresses unexpectedly.

Melissa Leo's dress looked too stiff.

I liked Natalie's dress but not her hair or tassel earring.

Here are my thoughts:

Kelly Osborne's bouffant hair looked stupid.

I love Cate Blanchet to death, but her dress was terrible. The back of it reminds me of an old ship that gets barnicles clinging to it.

Melissa Leo's dress looked like a doilie.

I didn't like the neckline on Amy Adam's dress, nor do I like the necklace she wore with it.

I wasn't crazy about Jennifer Hudson's dress. She is a beautiful girl, but orange doesn't look good on the red carpet IMO. Perhaps if it had been another color.

Scarlett Johansen's hair looked so good.. but something was off about her dress. It looked like when you wear a white bra underneath something and it shows through. I couldn't tell if her dress was sheer or if there was indeed something white underneath. The color was gorgous, though.

Nicole Kidman's dress was just weird.

For me, Kidman's dress and ensemble was jarring. Her hair and shoes and makeup seemed all wrong for it.

What was that on Melissa Leo, a tablecloth? Must have looked better in person.

And if you're going to wear Chanel, why wear something that looks like a t-shirt with padding? Gah. Michelle Williams could have looked so much better with a few touches on the theme.

Why was Reece Witherspoon wearing the dress Julie Roberts wore when she won her Oscar? It looked almost identical from my memory. You can't repeat a memorable dress, especially one that was worn by the winner.

Hated Cate Blanchett's dress. Great hair. But, it was my least favorite.

Really?? I think it could have looked good but by the time she presented (when i 1st saw her) it was just not making sense to me. I commented on it to dh and he said it looked like she had just had sex before coming out to present. She did have a glow about here too....

:yeahthat: I was thinking the same thing....she is so beautiful but the hair really made no sense to me. I just can't fathom being a hollywood star, having a professional team to do your wardrobe, makeup and hair, and winding up with THAT hair.

Yeah, it was kinda sexy bedhead. I think that's why I liked it. I've seen her in some weird, stiff updoes and this looked young and hot to me.

But I only saw her in the pre-red carpet, I don't remember seeing her later on in the show. I was getting bored and tuned out a bit!
