A bitch for my sister...

She received a rejection letter for grad school inside the acceptance packet! So, she saw the HUGE envelope from the school, with all of the info inside, and the letter stating she wasn't accepted. She confirmed with the school they put the wrong letter (hers) in the packet. I feel so bad for her. Not getting in was one thing, but this really was salt in the wound.

When I was applying for undergrad I got an acceptance letter from the college I had applied to within a large university (so like "college of liberal arts, university of nowhere") and days later a rejection from the university. The story was that I was borderline on admission and somehow they had gotten their decision mixed up. I didn't want to go there, but it was memorable. Hugs to your sister.

I know someone who got called, offered a full scholarship to grad school. He canceled his student loans and stuff, and then later was told that they meant to call the next person in the list and not him!! And took away his FULL scholarship.
