Does anyone know of a gray that is warm in tone? I love gray but I don't want it to feel cold and dull.

Thanks!!

I tried BM Revere Pewter in my house but it went band-aid beige on my wall. Looks lovely in many spaces I've seen online. I think it is kind of a chameleon color that reads more tan or more gray in different spaces, but it might be worth a look (you can type in revere pewter and do a google images to get an idea).

Bennington gray? (eta: nix that, it is more of a tan/beigey color)

Edgecomb gray?

I am having a lot of trouble picking paint with our new house so I've been in and out of the Ben Moore store more than I'd like to discuss!!! (I usually don't have this much trouble.)

Thanks for the ideas! I will check them out.

My dining room was a huge headache for me. It took me over a year to pick the color. I had swatches on there forever! I even knew the kind of color (terra cotta) that I wanted but it hurt my brain. One day I just went for it and it turned out great! I don't even think that I had owned a swatch of it ahead of time!

There's existing carpet in my DR right now that is a bit teal. It will likely be getting replaced with hardwoods in the next year or two, but I'm torn on what to do with it in the meantime. I don't like the pastel-y blue from the previous owner, and I want to paint. But lots of tans/beige colors go pinky/bandaid/fleshy on the wall in there. I've got it narrowed down but am still not committed. And if we do hardwood, I'll probably end up painting again (well DH will, be he swears he doesn't mind. Poor guy).

Oh and we have wood trim in this house that I'm trying to embrace. I've always had white trim. So the fixed elements are giving me a challenge this time!

Laura Ashley's Taupe 2 or 3 from Lowes' would go with your room, I think. Teal carpet...who ever thought that was a good idea?? :)

Thanks for the link!

My mom just tried to paint a room silver gray and ended up having it painted four times because every color looked blue to her.

Heather Armstrong of Dooce just featured her remodeled study, and I liked the gray on her walls: Olympic "Flagstone."

I painted my bedroom gray. There are so many other colors gray can take on. I got 20 paint samples, taped the cards to the wall and eliminated that way. Some looked greenish, some reddish, I think paint color is a personal thing. I picked one that a purplish undertone. True gray IMO looks like cement or sheetrock, especially if the room is dark.

I've slowly been painting the rooms in our house Nightingale by BM. It goes a bit purple in low light but is a nice gray in sunlight. Here's a pic of it in the daylight.

I did 99.9% of it ... just let her "help" me a bit at the bottom of the wall.
