My thoughts:

Young:

Hanging out with girlfriends.
Date night with DH.
Travelling.
Doing fun excursions with kids on weekends (although I feel extremely old and exhausted afterwards).
Purchasing cool new clothes and shoes. ;)
Social networking. As I tell my DH (who does zero social networking), I KNOW he's a geezer because he is not on FB.
Buying almost everything online. Same as FB, if you still do most of your shopping at B&M stores, you're old. :ROTFLMAO:

Old:

Buying some Lands End stuff for myself. Ouch. LOL.
Having wine almost every night. :54:
Being so excited about buying strollers and car seats.
Looking forward to calm weekends at home. Ahhhh, going to bed at 9 on Fridays.....
When DS1 tells me (as a joke) that I have a big butt. Sigh.
When I happen to be somewhere hip and happening at night and wonder how all these young people have the time to be out and about.

Yours?

writing a check in the grocery store, but I still prefer that method vs. putting it on plastic

Drinking beer
Dancing around the living room
My DH - he's eight years older!

Knowing that tidying the house would make me feel better
'Young people's' obsession with texting while sitting at a table with other live human beings who they are ignoring

Being young? I am only 30. That seems young to me.

Roller skating/derby makes me feel very young.

The one thing that makes me feel a little older is noticing the tiny lines that are around my eyes. Feeling tempted to buy anti-wrinkle eye cream makes me realize I am not 20 years old.

When we bought our Camry we felt more stodgy and/or grown up than when we drove a little Corolla. :hysterical:

I feel young when I go to concerts. I feel old when I complain all the way home about how tired I am, that my feet hurt, and how next time we need to be higher up and not on the mainfloor.

I'm 33.

It is! Enjoy it.

From a 41.5 year old mom who barely remembers what being 30 felt like. :crying:

Young:

Having a good laugh with my sisters or my good friends (or both!).
Spending time with just DH.
Dancing around with DD like a crazy woman.
Splurging on something for myself-- a new lipstick or nail polish (happens rarely).
Going to the beach or on vacation.
Sleeping in (again, happens rarely).

Old:

Talking to one of my supervisees and having them say they graduated high school in 2000. Arguing with them that that is impossible because you were in law school in 2000. Having them provide you with a timeline indicating that it is indeed possible.
Trying to figure out what is appealing at all about Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber, to name a few.
Finding unwanted hairs in places you never had them before.
Realizing that your idea of a good time involves turkey meatloaf and a crossword puzzle.

Pretty much EVERYTHING makes me feel old. Really, I feel older every day.

However, there are a few things that make me feel young, many of which have already been said like datenights, outings with girlfriends, etc. But here are a few more:

riding my bicycle outside
walking or running with young, fun hiphop music or even fun older music
playing outside with my kids.

I'm only 25, so I'm still definitely in the young category.

But I guess the things that make me feel particularly young or cool are:
- Dancing
- Sex
- Working out
- The fact that I still usually get IDed to buy alcohol

While the things that make me feel less than cool (or just highlight that I'm a mom) are:
- My minivan. We've had it for 6 months and I'm still not used to driving a van.
- When I don't know any of the cool new music at wedding receptions and things because I never go out anymore.

Young:
Doing genealogy, I'm one of the younger researchers that I know.

Old:
Riding with UVA students on the UVA buses, if I had a kid at 20, most of them could be the age of my kid now, so yeah, that makes me feel old.

Bumping into 'kids' at church that I taught when they were 2 or 3 years old, now they are teenagers.

Young: When I take DD to the park and run around with her.
When I travel and experience new aspects of other people's cultures.
When I throw on my favorite pair of jeans and a sweatshirt...and then get carded for buying beer :jammin: my favorite way of feeling young!!!

Old:
When I read People magazine and I don't know half of the people...and then I realize I am old enough to be the mother of most of them!
When I go into H&M and all the "in" clothes are things I wore in jr high and high school!
When I realize that I am waaay closer to 40 than I am to 30.
When I give my reasons for not joining FB and sound like my 90 yo grandmother!!!
