Anyone heard of the RIE Manual/RIE Approach?

My neighbor's been sending me articles about this parenting philosophy, and I'd never heard of it before. I checked out their website, and was wondering whether anyone here knew anything about them.

Any experience/thoughts on RIE?

I know of several people in LA who do RIE playgroups, prenatal groups, and other things with it.

I researched it a while ago, and don't remember much beyond giving the baby an uncluttered environment, not too many choices, and only giving them toys that are appropriate for them at that developmental stage.

This sounds similar to Waldorf parenting and education--something that we loosely follow in our home.
