You've just signed up for the single biggest time-sucker in history. Next to BBB of course!

Welcome! :wavey:

Have fun, you can do as much or as little on it as you want. It is addicting at first, but soon gets old!

Have fun!

And don't post anything you wouldn't want your mother to read. Pretend one day you are going to run for office.

You have done something great! You can now organize the BBB Group on Facebook! He he.

I am a little tired of Facebook now (I've been on for almost 4 yrs), but it does have fun things to do.

:applause: I've found if you're careful with Facebook and sharing, it's really a great source of fun & be careful... it can be just as addicting as BBB!

Make sure to go through your privacy settings and organize it the way you want it to be organized. Also, go into account security (inside account settings) and set it to https instead of http. Be careful of clicking on any sketchy aps. And of course think about what you post (duh).

Personally, I love facebook. I keep in touch with so many of my friends who live far away. And family members as well. it's great to see pictures of my friends' kids. It's really a great thing. And, don't be embarrassed that you joined. IMO, people who want to pat themselves on the back because they're not on facebook are a little pathetic.

It's addicting in the beginning. All sorts of people will start friend requesting you. It is a huge huge timesuck.... BUT it has been really cool to connect with people that I haven't seen or heard from in years.

hehe. Welcome.

I held out for so long but now I think I'd lost touch with most of my younger friends and cousins if I wasn't on it. Oh well.

You'll be addicted in no time.. surfing everyone's profiles and photos. Eventually you'll get so bored of it, in a couple of months time that you will log on only when you get a notification of some sort.

PPs have given great advice. Set your privacy settings as secure as you want it, as specific as you want it. DO NOT post statuses that can come back to bite you. ("pretend you will one day run for office is great advice, lol)

Have fun snooping! :)

What does this do?

I set all my privacy settings for only "my friends" to view my
page, photos, bio, etc.

Is there more to do?

It keeps you on a secure network so no one can eavesdrop on you. This explains it better than I could: http://www.snopes.com/computer/internet/https.asp

I have my FB settings set for friends only with a few exceptions. I have a "work colleagues" list and I have it set so that they cannot see my postings, pictures, links, etc. This is what I do because I don't want to say no to people I am friends with through work when they friend me, but I don't want to have to police myself constantly more than I would otherwise do. Obviously, I'm careful about what I say anyway, but I just take that added precaution with people who I have a work relationship with. I also block them from seeing certain things in my bio (religion and political affiliation) and all photos I'm tagged in. Who knows what high school friend is going to scan old pictures and tag me in them. I don't need my work colleagues seeing my big hair from the 80s.

I'm not sure what is so addictive about it. I don't play any games or anything like that. I do check in daily but there usually isn't a lot to see or do. But, I also keep my friend list purposely small (100 max).

I have "friends only" for everything as my settings.

It's nice to keep up with photos and stuff. Plus, all my friends are on there and I'm glad I'm in the loop b/c people assume you read their status and know when something is going on sometimes.

Never heard of this, thanks. I will be doing this tonight for both DH and I.

:ROTFLMAO:I thought that might be you-- It recommended you as a friend i might know, but i wasn't 100% sure it was you, with that racy picture LOL!! No offense that i didn't friend you right away, i try to limit friends to people i have met in real life, and don't ever get offended if someone doesn't friend me, cause, well... it's no biggie!!! Looooove the pic, though ;)I wish i looked that good!!

I had that pole dancer as my BBB avatar for awhile. :)

My sister told me to change it because old friends wouldn't know
that it was me.
