I had it wrapped really tight - with rubberband around the packaging it came in.

It smells totally fine, but its on its 6th day....should I pitch it or use it?

Was planning on reheating it on the stove.

I'd say no. Three days max would be my limit. Six days, nope, wouldn't do it.

Even if it tastes totally fine?
I guess the question is...can it still taste fine but have bacteria on it?
Probably yes, so that's probably my answer, right?

I'm not sure I would chance it... especially chicken. I would probably toss it after 4 days (maybe stretch to 5 days).

We would eat it. Our guideline on leftovers is 7 days if it was handled properly. We haven't gotten sick yet.

pitch it. yes, the bacteria can certainly be there before you smell it!

3-4 days is the guideline linked on the usda website. 6 seems a bit too long to me and I am generally very much an eat it unless it looks or smells badly sort of girl, not anxious about this stuff. But in this case, I would take a pass.

I would not chance it, no how, no way. Food poisoning sucks.

I'm pitching it. I just can't bring myself to serve it to my 2 & 4 yearold and my fetus! (oh, and DH too!) :)

Just sucks b/c it was organic. UGH!

Since you are pregnant, definitely no.

As an FYI, I saw this around Thanksgiving:

How Long Can Thanksgiving Leftovers Keep on Giving?
Turkey sandwiches, turkey meatloaf, turkey pot pie — the bounty of Thanksgiving dinner often leaves us with extras and opportunities to get creative. But exactly how long should we keep repeating variations of our Thanksgiving dinner? Use the following guidelines to determine when your Thanksgiving leftovers should be left behind:

Refrigerated cooked turkey should be eaten within three to four days.
Stuffing and gravy should be eaten within one to two days.
Casseroles and cooked vegetables should be eaten within three to four days.
Fruit and cream pies should be eaten within two to three days.

Some of the timelimes do seem a bit conservative to me.

Still Tasty says 4 days is the max. I would have pitched it, too.

Four days has always been my cutoff for leftovers. Which reminds me, I have some Indian food from Saturday night I need to toss.

When you say 4 days (or 3 or whatever) for leftovers, do you count the day the food is cooked?

I'd pitch it simply because I wouldn't be sure how long it sat under warming lamps at the store before I brought it home. Even if I handled it correctly after that, the combo of the unknown length of history before I had it and the 6 days would worry me.

Nope. No way. No how.

but thats a lie. even when i was pregnant i snuck in salami once or twice. and had sushi several times too.

but throw the chicken away
