The mother asked that I don't give Barbie (no problem here) she said DC likes arts and crafts. I was thinking either this shrinky dinks set http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OXUIIG/ref=s9_simh_gw_p21_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1PB5TSKQ31BMF7RZ7PZC&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846 or this sticky mosaic box http://www.amazon.com/Orb-Factory-Sticky-Mosaics-Jewelry/dp/B000ZLZJ50/ref=pd_bxgy_t_text_c
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to stay around $15 Thanks :)

I really loathe those sticky mosaics, personally. DD#1 (turning 7 in a few weeks) is kinda aging out of them. They were better when she was 5.

I prefer board games, my go-to game is Monopoly Jr. With a gift receipt.

Well, both my girls love those sticky mosaics, so I think that is a good gift.

But board games are always fun. And at age 6, many kids start to enjoy the more complex ThinkFun games like Rush Hour, Jungle Crossing and Chocolate Fix.

My DD is younger, but for DS invited to parties, we use the Think Fun games. I like to give games they can play on their own and don't always need more players.

Obviously, it depends on the kid, but DS is well past Monopoly Jr at 6.5 and plays the regular version just fine now. He likes Sticky Mosaics, too.

Our go-to lately has been the pop beads set at Target. They are very cute and fun, DD got them for her 6th B-day and loved them. They are on sale right now too.

I had never noticed/paid attention to the Pop Beads before. I checked them out on Amazon and they get great reviews, so I headed to Target to pick some up for a birthday party this weekend. My 6 yo DD is just DYING.....she can not stand the thought of giving them away. Thanks for the great idea PP.

Sleeping Queens in my 6 year old DD's favorite game right now. I don't think it is very well known, so the recipient probably won't already have it.
