View Full Version : Why doesn't anyone sell Mater?

DS loves Disney Cars, and has been asking for Mater (matchbox style/size) to go along with the few other Cars characters he has, but I haven't been able to find Mater anywhere. Anybody know why? Or where I might find one? We've found Lightning, Doc, Sally, Luigi, Ramone, Guido, etc, but no Mater. Thanks for any help!

My nephew has a Matchbox sided Mater, and I'm pretty sure I've seen them IRL at Target or TRU while shopping for presents for him.

Quick search on Amazon brought up three options:

My guess is that he's boxed only one or two to a unit by the manufacturer and gets bought up quickly.

I think I've seen him at Target and at the Disney Store.

I had the same problem finding Sally at Christmas. I finally found her as part of a multi pack at WalMart. I'll take a look for him when I'm there one day this week.

Thank you all! It's good to know they are out there. I've checked Target & Walmart, but will keep checking back. I saw the few on Amazon, but after shipping they are $10 and I don't love Mater that much. ;) Thanks again!

We bought Mater at the Disney Store in the mall

You'll probably find him on eBay.

DJ is super cute :). We probably have 50 of the Cars matchbox - a lot were found at Walgreens, they sometimes have a random selection.

Thank you! I actually figured this out during DS's bath - as many times as I have sat through this movie, I'm surprised I was so stumped (although it has been at least a week and a half since I've seen it)!:rotflmao:

My Sears has a decent selection of some of the harder to find characters. Definitely saw both Mater and DJ there, too. Can't seem to find Snot Rod anywhere though!

Snot Rod we were only able to get by buying a storage case, and he came with it. I think he may come in combo packs, too, but definitely the storage case.
