Lets say you open your mail tomorrow and inside are tickets to any event past, present or future....where would they take you?

Hmmm. This is a great question. Without thinking about it for hours, I would like my tickets to take me to:

the Continental Congress in Philadelphia in the summer of 1776 during the drafting and passage of the Declaration of Independence

Lincoln's second innauguration

Kennedy innauguration

Obama innauguration

my paternal grandparents' wedding, and the year or so leading up to it-- I always loved hearing my grandmother's stories of their courtship and marriage, told so romantically and set against the backdrop of WWII.

I reserve the right to supplement my answer as the day progresses.

I would go to The Oscar Awards within the past 10 years and then a really cool after-party.

The building of the Egyptian pyramids. I'd also like to go see the dinosaurs, but not for any specific event.

Oh gosh, the first thing my mind goes to is places I could prevent tragedies (for example: the play Lincoln was watching when he was assassinated).

But barring that, something historians have been wondering about so that I could come back and report on it. Shakespeare at the Globe. Guess I'd pick the one with the "we few, we happy few, we band of brothers" speech (Henry.... V?)

Or, heh, Lillith Fair '98 so I could go & give a stern talking to to the younger version of myself.

eta: yup, Henry V
