View Full Version : What is this toy--short covered measuring tape that slaps around wrist like bracelet?

My sons chose this toy from their dentist's treasure chest, and now I'm wondering what it's called. It's about 8 inches or so of a hard measuring tape covered in decorative paper that stretches out straight or slaps around one's wrist like a bracelet. My boys have had a lot of fun slapping it against numerous objects and having it curl around them. BTW, you can't see that it's measuring tape--my boys just tore off the outer paper to reveal what was inside.

Does anyone know what this is called and where to buy them for goody bags? TIA!

Now why didn't I think of googling those words?! I looked yesterday on oriental trading and said "slap stick" but none came up. I guess it wasn't until I was writing this post that I thought of them as a bracelet. (My boys don't use them for that, which is why I originally didn't think of them that way).

Interesting... I don't remember ever seeing them before. How did I miss that? Perhaps they never made it to where I lived. And like I said, my boys have had lots of fun playing with them, doing everything with them except for wearing them as bracelets!

Major flashback going on here! I loved those things, but had to buy them with my own money so I only had a couple.

DD got one at a birthday party a while back and she thought that it was the coolest thing!

Yes, I TOTALLY remember those in elementary school! You could buy them at 7 Eleven too. Me and my friends would walk to the nearby convenience store and buy them :)
