Hi all,

DD is turning 7 and this year we are doing a ballerina party. Just the dress-up, we are not hiring anyone to show girls ballet moves. I am having hard time finding a reasonably priced art/crafts kit that could double as a party favor. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I can't think of an art kit but how about leg warmers?

Make no sew tutus. Hers says ten yards but that was for an adult I bet you could do less to make it more cost friendly. http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/no_sew_tutu_2

Not an activity, but Oshkosh has cute ballerina slipper shirts right now

They don't seem to have any available for purchase online but maybe you could call a local store and see if they some in stock. There is a 20% code right now which brings them to $4.80 each. you could buy a yard of tulle and roll up the shirts inside the tulle and wrap a pretty ribbon around it.
For an activity how about popping in a ballet instruction DVD the girls can follow? here's one from a quick search on Amazon:

I just looked at them (we have an aspiring ballerina here too) and I was able to put them in my cart and proceed to checkout, so I think they are available for purchase online. HTH

That's odd, it wouldn't let me do that. I started with 10 but When I clicked "add to cart" got a message that it was a low inventory item so I cut it down to 8, then 6, and 4 and kept getting the same message.

Thanks for ideas! I'll look into making tutus but another mom did that just a short while ago. I'll see if I can find leg warmers or any kind of dance/ballerina outfit for less than 5 dollars.

Someone in the bargains forum posted Target had a lot or dance stuff marked down, you could try there.

I might look into making tutu bags....like this for the party. It might be above-budget, but if you could find some inexpensive totes at Michaels and maybe do the tutu part ahead of time, the kids could decorate the bags with fabric markers and put their names on. I think they are so cute! http://www.etsy.com/listing/62589233/pink-mini-tutu-tote-bag-mtb37?ref=sr_list_11&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_search_query=ballet+bags&ga_order=date_desc&ga_ship_to=&ga_facet=

or maybe you might want to buy them, this seller has party packs: http://www.etsy.com/listing/68861246/sweet-baby-tutu-party-favor-purse-set-of
