My little guy is here!

My little guy arrived today, at 35 weeks. He's doing good but is in NICU, so please send lots of strong lung vibes his way!

So after thinking I was just having gas pain most of the morning, I realized the "pain" was getting consistent...you'd think that with it being #3 I'd get the difference, but man oh man these contractions felt nothing like the previous two! It wasn't until I started feeling the urge to push that they felt remotely the same. Needless to say I wasn't on the hospital bed for more than 5 minutes before he arrived. If the nurse hadn't ran me all the way from the lobby to L&D I probably would have had him in the elevator or worse yet the lobby, LOL. No name yet, we had our list narrowed done, but weren't quite ready!

I was really hoping he'd stay put a couple more weeks, but it turns out arriving this early might have saved his life. The umbilical cord had two true knots tied in it. Like someone had taken both ends and tied it up which could have been fatal if either knot became tight enough to cut off support to the baby. :( My L&D nurse said she's only seen single knots three times in her whole career, so seeing two was surprising to many. I'm thankful my little guy made it out safe!

My girls are thrilled he's here but are sad they won't get to see him for a couple of days. (With all the flu bugs going around our area we don't want to take any chances of them bringing something from school into the NICU.) I'm hoping I'll get to start nursing him in a few days and better yet, take him home in about a week. Keep your fingers crossed for me please!

I am so, so glad he was born early and safe. Just last week my co-worker had a friend on her msg boards that lost a baby at 40 weeks due to knots in the cord. Good luck with the NICU stay and deciding on a name, and congratulations!!
