Wedding gift for wedding or reception?

DH's niece is getting married in April but not having their reception until May.

Should I send a gift to coincide with the wedding date (next week), or the reception date (TBD), or does it matter? I've only known one other couple who celebrated their wedding with a reception at a different time, so I'm not sure how this is usually done.

It doesn't really matter. You can send it so it arrives between the two dates, if you like.

I would send the card/gift at the time of the actual wedding.

Are you invited/attending the receprion? If you are, I would hold off on sending a gift and bring it to the reception.

If you are not attending the reception, I would send a card for the wedding
