If it's tough for me, it must be tough for the wifey and all you mothers?
What's your opinion?

Well no, I dont hate parenting. However, I do at time have frustrations with it and get tired and feel like I cant ever get ahead. I think the author makes a great point, that its own obsession with getting things "perfect" that brings about the feeling of dissatisfaction and self loathing. At times I have had to take a step back and remind myself I cant do everything and be everything to everyone, some things need to slide once and awhile.

I dont think the feelings are abnormal unless they dont come and go. If its a constant feeling of unhappiness and its starting to be projected onto the child or spouse then it warrants help from a professional as there is probably more at play psychologically than just being a parent.

Parenting isn't that challenging for me so far but my girl is only 8 months. I love it though and am infinitely happier than ever before in my life. I'm a single Mom (Dad helps so I"m not totally on my own). Life in general is harder, with more tasks to do and less time, but it's all so worthwhile. I love being a mom and there are no words to describe how lucky I feel to have my girl. I can't imagine feeling otherwise.

There was a thread on a similar topic recently (the thread title was, lol, "Parenting sucks worse than we admit") w/some good discussions about some of the reasons people today are feeling like this: http://www.windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=391513
