Yeah, $50/mo for the next 9 months. Community Service was not an option (OF COURSE!) because we make too much money. I really hate being caught in the middle. And then to top it all off when he got to work, the union rep was there in the lounge letting everyone know that there would be more paycuts coming for next school year. Anywhere from 5% to 8% as they try to cut 9 million from the district budget. They have to do pay cuts because they cannot lay off any more people or they won't have enough people to teach the class. They anticipate cutting an additional 5 days off the school year. This is on top of the 5 they cut this year. Not only do I feel bad for the teachers (pity party for myself!) but I feel bad for the parents and the kids. Missing 2 weeks of school is a big deal. What are they going to do, cut recess to get all the time in to cover the material? It's nuts! (I'm being flippant; they would never cut recess; kids need that recharge time, and they know that.)

Be glad you're not a teacher. Be glad you don't live in California.

I'm working on being glad DH still has a job. (Puts things in perspective.) But I was crying when he got back cuz that $50 is coming out of our grocery money. I'm kinda hating life right now.

I'm sorry. That really sucks.

And so true about California schools. It's so sad.
