gate check a double chariot - anyone done it/seen it?

we're moving abroad and i want to have my double chariot while we wait for our container of items to arrive. it could take several weeks! i was thinking of buying the travel bag for the chariot and gate checking it.

am i crazy?

i called the airline and they said it'd be allowed even after i emphasized a couple times that it's really large.

Do it. I don't know how a Chariot breaks down but I know I can break my BJ switchback down pretty quickly. With the bag is should be protected. You will be thankful you have it when you get there.
