View Full Version : Which single AT is best as car-stroller? BOB, MBUS, BJCE, Phil & Ted's

Hi There,

I've been lurking and doing a lot of searches the past few days, and I'm hoping you all can help me. I have a Quest, which I love, as my stroller for errands. Now I'm looking for an AT to use for fitness walking, not jogging. The problem is there are no decent sidewalks in my neighborhood. There is a planned community about 5 miles by car which is nothing but sidewalks, very family-friendly, etc. I would love to be able to drive there to walk several times a week.

The one I really want after looking at the above models is the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle, but I can't see one IRL and I'm afraid it's going to be a beast to load in my Toyota Camry's trunk. Help ladies - I need real-life feedback!

Thank you!
Kelli

If you have a small trunk, the Bob Revo and the BJCE are more car friendly as they fold in half.

i've fit a a double BOB, a double chariot, a single BJCE, and a P&T in the tiny trunk of my honda civic (not all at one time of course :p ). if you keep your trunk fairly clean any of the strollers you listed should work.

I don't know Bob and P&T but have compared the BJCE and the MB Swift fold side by side in my living room and we were more than surprised: BJCE wins hands down.
We have a small car and still have room in the trunk with the BJCE, also I love HOW easy it is. I am petite and I can lift it (it's heavy but it's really OK, I could totally imagine lifting it in and out my car on a daily basis.) If you want a "car AT" and an easy and compact fold is your main criteria, I think you won't regret it.
(Unfolded it is REALLY big and tall though...)

Very hard decision... ;)
Good luck!!!

Having this said: I would definitely compare them side by side in a shop ...

You didn't mention this one but my bumbleride indie fits great in the trunk of my corolla.

My Phil and ted fit just fine in the trunk of my Camry with extra room to spare for groceries. I always thought the Camry had a good size trunk.

I have a Maxima, I would imagine the trunk size is roughly the same as a Camry. I keep a Swift in my trunk almost all the time (we use it a lot on the weekends). I've also got 4 camping chairs (2 adult, 2 children), a large umbrella and a soccer ball. There's still plenty of room for when we go shopping, we just have to ensure the chairs are pushed all the way back and then the stroller can be pushed back too, leaving enough room in front.

I also have an Inglesina Trip for shopping. I can fit both at the same time, but rarely do because then I don't have a lot of space left.

Well, I never had the Elite or Urban; but I tried a BJSummit and now have a MB Terrain.
I put the Terrain (which is bigger than the Urban) in the back of my Forester (which is a decent size but not huge).
The Baby Joggers seem to have the most compact fold, but I think you could fit a MB w/out a problem. The fold will just be longer, but manageable. I would go with whatever stroller you liked better. But if the fold is the most important factor, you can't beat Baby Jogger for the ease and portability, imo.

I don't have any of the Terrain folded, but here are some of the Urban.

Thanks so much for your help, ladies! And thank you for the pics, Kaylee! I just ordered a chocolate/blue 2010 BOB Revolution on Amazon for $328. I finally decided against the MBUS because of that long fold (seen on YouTube), and because of the resale value of the BOB. I'm a stroller freak, and I can see myself wanting something different in a year and selling it! Thanks again! I will still be around - you all are a great group.
