We're on the hunt for a playset. Friends of ours will be moving next summer and will sell us their Gorilla Sundance set (1 year old) next season for a great price. Or we could splurge now on a different brand and have something for DD1 to use this season. WWYD? I really like their set and DD1 has played on it before. I guess my drawback is that I would like for DD1 to have something this year to play on at home since it's hard to get out sometimes with DD2 yet.

I think I would wait knowing that you can get a great set next year at a substantial discount from a trusted source. Still, I might consider buying a full-priced set now depending on other factors. Is your DD1 in preschool? If not, does she get active play anywhere else? Is there a park close by that you can feasibly go to on a regular basis? A nice walk with DD2 in the stroller or worn on you can be a pleasant escape. If it involves a car ride, then it may be less likely to happen.

I'm all for bargains, but sometimes it's worth paying full price. Good luck!

If you think that you would make good use of a swingset this year, I would buy one now.

If it were me (and I just bought a new Gorilla swing set Thursday and was THIS CLOSE to getting the Sundance)...I would go ahead and buy one now. I was having a hard time finding the Sundance in stock. I know Walmart was selling it for $900 or something, but the one they have listed now is $1,300 and it's shipped from CNS stores.

The reason being, there is a whole year that it would get play. And right now a lot of sales are going on because the summer season isn't in play yet. I was recently told at a local swing set company here that they were having their winter sale (stuff was about half off).

I would look at all of them on www.gorillaplaysets.com and see which one has all the features you really want (I LOVED the Sundance - but my DD1 wasn't happy about the tire swing, she wanted a sand box). If you find one that meets all your needs, then I would look around online for a better price.

If you really want the Sundance model, then I would go with this website: http://www.willygoat.com/catalogsingle.asp?productID=5674

I ordered the Blue Ridge Overlook Deluxe http://www.gorillaplaysets.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=01%2D0015 (I wanted a wood roof because we have a lot of windy storms) from this site: http://www.woodenplayscapes.com/gorilla-playset-products I paid $20 for shipping. I also got a 2-person glider swing.

I forgot to mention that when we first moved into our current house, I wanted to get a swing set for my DD1. But I didn't want to spend a lot of money on one if she never was going to play on it.

So I bought a flexible flyer metal swing set for like $150. She loved it. We had it for a year. I just sold it on CL for $100 in less than 24 hours. Then I bought the Gorilla set. It should be here next week.

The metal one I had was: http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/recreation/backyard/play_sets&start=0&selectedSKU=0410-40749-2003
