Using Multi-purpose bins for stuff

It came up in 2 threads to use the Container Store Multi-Purpose bins to hold paperwork and magazines and things. I have a large size bin not in use and I stuck a couple magazines in and they just ended up at the bottom curled to fit. So, how do you use these without the papers getting smooshed to the bottom? Do I need the small size instead? I could stand a magazin on its short end and that would help, but a sheet of paper won't work well, it seems.

ETA: I've read threads with all sort of great uses for these bins, but can't quite see how they really work. Any one want to share some photos?

I am using the medium size to hold my paperwork. For the magazines I put the spine down and don't have a problem with the pages getting mangled - it's also pretty full so that helps as well. As for the paperwork, I have a couple of folders in each one so that helps keep them from getting too squashed but since it's paperwork that will eventually get filed I don't worry too much because hanging out in the file folders will straighten them back up.

I think the size definitely comes into play. Do you have enough magazines to make it close to full? That should help. I'll take some pics later- baby is sleeping on my lap.

I have mine in bathroom cabinets to hold extra toiletries. I also use them to organise toys.

Thanks, Lori! I think I need smaller sizes and they'd work well. I like that small things, like index cards, can go in too.
