DS has his eyes on both of these but they seem a bit redundent. Thoughts on which is better for a 6 year old? His almost 4 year old brother is likely to want to join in as well.

We have both. DS almost never plays with the Ninjago but the Beyblades receive quite a bit of use. I just asked him which he prefers and why and he replied, "Beyblades because they spin longer and are easier to use." The Beyblades are metal and you spin them in stadiums. There are launchers you can buy to make it easier for your 4 year old. DS doesn't need a launcher but my 6 year old nephew does.

eta: This is a good starter set. I bought it at Target. http://www.amazon.com/Beyblade-Metal-Fusion-Vortex-Battle/dp/B003A6GIKW/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1303022743&sr=1-1

DS has Beyblade and no interest in the Lego ones. My 4 yo can launch them some times, but not always. We have the same starter set as PP. We also have the Duotron Launcher, which launches 2 at once.

It's $20 at Walmart.

Ds1 thoughtfully said, "well, they are both basically the same thing so I don't know." But a minute later he said Ninjago because they have collectible weapons and Beyblades don't. :) So there is a kid answer for you!
