Crab rangoon from Friday evening....made fresh at time of order, refrigerated within the hour, forgotten until now. Dinner or garbage?

I'm weird about leftovers and food in general so take it with that knowledge but I couldn't eat it. It would be in the trash around here.

I think you are on the cusp, but I would keep it as long as it smelled okay.

Take out only gets two days around here, cause who knows how long the ingredients were at the restaurant first. Plus, shellfish. Toss it.

Garbage. The components alone make me think it would be too risky -- crab and cream cheese. Toss.

....sigh.....I was afraid of that. They are the BEST crab rangoon and the restaurant is 30 min. from here so I don't get them often. DS2's birthday was this weekend and in all of the chaos they were forgotten. I'm so sad. :(

My ILs would totally eat that. You never want to play this game with them. I once had to wrestle a carton of month-past expiration orange juice out of her hands.

My MIL is the same way. She'll eat things way out of date claiming them to be fine because they packaging isn't puffy. How long do you need to keep salad dressing around before it 'puffs' ????

I'd toss it, too.

Funny about the ILs...my MIL is the exact same way. She puts a bottle of Ranch salad dressing on her table that has a date of July 2010 as the expiration date.

And for milk, she goes by the date on the carton. Period. Never mind that you opened it more than a week ago, if it says its still in date, it stays in the fridge. This is despite my telling her time and time again, 7 days after its opened it needs to be tossed. She does toss it when its chunky thank goodness.

We have some condiments with expiration dates in 2010. We just don't use that much mayonnaise or mustard.

As for the OP's question, I don't know. I probably would eat them unless they smelled bad.

All I read was that it involved shellfish so I say toss if there's any question at all.
