I switched to stainless steel for the kids cups and water bottles a while ago. They love their "silver" cups, and I love that they're not plastic and that they're dishwasher safe. Now I'm looking for plates and bowls in dishwasher safe 18/8 stainless steel.

Does anyone have stainless steel plates or bowls that they like?

I'm looking at this set on Amazon, but I would rather just buy bowls and plates, I don't need more cups:

I also see camping style ones at REI (and Amazon) -- does anyone have these:
MSR Alpine Plate:

Bowl:

Life without plastic also has a set (and sells bowls and plates individually):

Thanks in advance.

If you have an Indian store nearby you'll probably be able to get stainless steel plates and bowls much cheaper. Not all Indian stores carry them, so you might want to call ahead.

Another thing to consider if Corelle plates and bowls. I got mine at Walmart, they are plain white and I LOVE them. I didn't think Iwould love tham as much as I do. DC have dropped them several times with no breaks. Just another option.

Just saw on Bargain's board that Lunchbot set is 40% off with the code EARTHDAY That makes them $12 plus shipping.

Oooooh! Thank you so much! I've been eyeing that set on Amazon for ages, so the code made it an easy decision.

Hmm. That is an idea.

But, I grew up with Corelle. Though they are break-resistant, they aren't unbreakable. And when they do break, they break into tiny, sharp shards that go everywhere.

Although, I don't have hard tile floors, so I might think of that as an option when my kids are a bit older ... or if *I* ever become less clumsy.

Ditto. No brand names, much cheaper, and functional!
