Our pediatrician recommended starting DS on yoghurt and even cottage cheese, maybe blended a little smoother. I thought you weren't supposed to introduce cow's milk till the baby is a year old. Is yoghurt/cheese different, or somehow safer?

Yes, the protein is changed to be more digestable, and there is less lactose in it. Sometimes even lactose intolerant kids (like my son was as a baby)--can handle cheese, yogurt, and cottage cheese. Yogurt especially though is easiest to handle--sometimes not cheese or cottage cheese if they have a dairy problem.

9-10 months is the age where these are generally okay.

Our pediatrician suggested we try yogurt around 6 months... they told us to make sure though that we got the whole milk yogurt and none of the low fat stuff. So, we originally went with YoBaby and then switched to full fat Greek Yogurt. She loves it and its packed full of protein.

OK, thanks! I was confused because of the whole cow's milk thing.
