Today ds1, who is in first grade, competed in an area wide math bowl.
First, he was one of three first graders in our entire school district who was selected to practice and compete. That was a huge honor in and of itself.
Then today he was one of ~45 of the smartest first graders in the area to compete in this Math Bowl at a local college. He placed SIXTH out of everyone in his grade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so so so so proud of him!!!!! He got to walk on stage and receive a medal. He was just beaming!
Plus, his team (the 1st and 2nd graders from our district) placed 5th in the team competition out of over 20 school districts!!!!!!
The organizers told us that the 1st and 2nd graders were quizzed using 3rd grade material. I am just in AWE!!!
Our district had lots of other winners too, so it was an exciting afternoon. We cleaned up!! LOL!
Of course, we had to stop and get some celebratory ice cream on the way home. :cheerleader1:
