View Full Version : Kinda Scared

Well, I've been having issues with my eyesight for a month or more now (been to the eye doctor a couple of times...my eyes are healthy). They are blurred some of the time, some days more than others. But not blurred all the time.

And lately my head has been feeling like there is a lot of pressure and kind of full feeling (but I'm not congested). I've also been lightheaded off and on.

I can't find any specific pattern to why or when this happens and in general, I just feel kind of lousy and scared. I'm tired. I'm scared.

On top of this, my family doctor (who I've not been thrilled with lately) said he would refer me to a neurologist (for ongoing migraines) but never did. My suspicion is that he thinks everything is "all in my head". I don't level that charge lightly, but I think he just doesn't really believe me and so I'm not getting much cooperation from him.

I've had a bunch of blood work done, and everything so far keeps coming back normal, but something is not right. I know I'm not seeing properly and that alone is scary enough. I'm ready to switch doctors, but I have no idea who to pick and I don't feel like messing around.

Did I mention that I'm scared that something is really wrong?

Sorry, I just needed to get this out somewhere because I'm worried.

Do you need a referral to go to a neurologist? If not, I'd just find one and go. If so, push your GP to give it to you. If I were you I'd be a bit scared too, and I'd want an MRI or CT scan to rule out anything nasty.

Not saying you shouldn't followup (I think you should). BUT, I have been sick for for-ev-er. My symptoms are similar. It is influenza, which apparently I have had influenza A twice and influenza B too. My vision is blury in the mornings, I feel like crap, blah blah, rince repeat.

I've been to my ENT, been in touch with my asthma specialist (cuz, ya, I'd like to breathe), gone to my dr, DH's dr, my optometrist, a (crazy) opthalmologist. Its viral. Nothing they can do.

SUCKS.

Did I mention that I can't wear my contact and I am SUPER grouchy when I wear my glasses? Anyone within 100 yards of me should get a survivors medal for the past 4months. Because I'm VERY cranky when I wear my glasses.

I think you should remind your doc. I'm sorry you're feeling lousy. Migraines suck.

Could be a lot of different things, including allergies (as it was with me in CA). BTDT on medical personnel thinking it was all in my head. GRRRRR. Don't let the (#*$#(* get you down.

Call your doctor asap and get the referral.

I was so gone above the neck I had a "to do" list that reminded me to call doctors and push for results.

Thanks all. I do plan to find a new doctor Monday morning. I'm tired of fighting with my old one.

Does anyone have similar symptoms with anxiety? I think the head fullness/lightheaded feeling could be from anxiety, but the blurred vision is throwing me off....which is causing anxiety...

Ugh, it's a vicious cycle sometimes.

My first thought is allergies? I had seasonal allergies when preggo with DS and living on the East coast (lots of trees). I got conjunctivitis (eyes felt weird and got a weird film). Also, sinus pressure can happen w/allergies, right?

My DH gets migranes like that - he calls them 'vision headaches'. No pain but he can't see / things are blurry.

The head fullness and dizziness could be anxiety. I have a history of psychosomatic symptoms. I remember once convining myself I could feel a tumor growing in lungs. I have given myself hives. Sounds absurd now but at the time it was absolutely terrifying. It was a lifelong problem for me before I started SSRIs. Of course you should get it checked out, but it definitely could be anxiety. This is why I think anxiety is a serious medical problem, it can wreck you as effectively as a virus could.

Yep, the migraines could be contributing to the visual thing, and I wouldn't hesitate to get checked by the neurologist.. When I was in college I got migraines that were primarily w/ the visual aura thing...I couldn't see well, everything was blurry. Sometimes it coincided w/ a headache, sometimes it was by itself (no headache). It totally freaked me out until I figured out what an ocular migraine was. It was shimmery and like I was seeing stars/sparkles (sounds delightful ;) but it was scary and at the time I was worried I had a brain tumor.). Sometimes I had a little bit of clear tunnel vision in front of me but the whole periphery of my vision was sparkly/fuzzy/shimmery.

Feel better!
