can other readers use kindle products?

My mother has an Ereader and I want to get her a gift certificate for it but I don't know what brand it is (it is not a kindle). What store can I get a egift card from that would work on any reader?

If it's not a Kindle, then it probably reads ePub. I would stay away from Barnes and Noble because they have DRM. Try kobobooks.com.
