One year old scared of elevators?

Was your kiddo scared of elevators at any point? We don't go on them very often but when we do she starts to cry and it's that "I'm scared" cry which just breaks my heart. I've tried doing all sorts of things to distract her but she seems horrified. Though, fortunately as soon as we get out of the elevator she recovers quickly as if it was no big deal. Is this common?

DS was very nervous about elevators when he was a toddler. One of my nieces was too. Personally, I don't blame them. Aside from the unpleasant physical sensations, I think elevators must mess with a little one's sense of object permanence.

Fiona was scared of elevators for a while. I think it lasted for a year or so, and ended fairly soon after she turned 2. She didn't cry a lot, but definitely whimpered.
