pink eye?

DS came home from daycare with one eye pink and some goop in that eye. They did not send him home early, but mentioned it at pick up. It looked worse by the time I put him to bed. This is our 1st run-in with pink eye.

Is there anything I can do for him? I hope to get him to the doctor as soon as possible tomorrow, but hope it won't last too long.

Warm, moist compress for the eye (helps with inflammation, and loosening any drainage that might make it difficult for DS to open his eye). Really, really good hand hygiene if at all possible.

Wipe everything down with a disinfecting wipe in addition to vigilant hand washing....it's so contagious.

If it is bacterial (and it sounds like it is) you need antibiotics stat. Bacterial pink eye is highly contagious. Call the ped, wash your hands frequently, and wash his bedding after he's been on the antibiotics for 24 hours.
