I posted a few months ago asking for toy recommendations for my DS and got some great ideas for teethers, rattles, and soft blocks. DS is now 6.5 months old and I feel like his toy box is lacking in the cause and effect toy domain. He is very active, can sit up on his own really well, and loves banging blocks and stacking cups together and figuring out how things work. He's also been reaching for our household objects quite a bit lately.

What toys would you recommend that he would enjoy now??

I know that the FP Laugh n Learn home gets recommended a lot here...is he too young for it? Also, a side question, I've noticed that diapers.com and buy buy baby don't carry it, but Amazon and TRU do. Is it by any chance being phased out or??

Thanks sooo much everyone! I always get such great suggestions here from all the awesome mamas...:)

You could intro a simple jack in the box.

DS1 got his FP Learning Home when he was about 9 months, but I brought it home when he was about 6 months and he saw it briefly before I put it away. He was able to enjoy it while interacting with my older kids. So it is early but not unusable.

LF Learning table?

Peek a boo games with toys and a blanket

O ball?

thanks everyone--great suggestions! I'll start looking for a good deal on the FP Learning Home if DS is not too young for it. We already have the LF Learn and Groove Table and the Baby Einstein Bendy Ball, but will get him the FP Rock a Stack.

My DS likes this tumble and twirl top: http://www.amazon.com/Playskool-Explore-Grow-Tumble-Twirl/dp/B001WRSER6

and the Fisher Price Peek a Blocks shape sorter (not technically a cause and effect toy, but the bucket does play a little song when blocks are put in the bucket or when the baby correctly sorts the shapes): http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Peek-A-Blocks-Shape-Sorter/dp/B0002YDPRO

This was the best toy purchase we ever made....

And DS liked these at that age as well - and still sometimes plays with them. I bought all three at once. I have the CUTEST picture of DS looking in the mirror on the activity cube looking back at me...
