Brown breast milk?

On another forum I visit a mom was asking whether it was okay that her freshly pumped (i.e. before refrigeration) breast milk was brown. She has been pumping exlusively for weeks and never has experienced this before.

I tried Googling but found nothing. My computer is wonky right now, too.

Any advice?

Blood or there was something in the bottle or tubing (eg it was dirty) before she pumped?

I have some faint recollection of hearing that breastmilk can be a variety of different colors, including black, and still be normal. I never experienced that, but I remember hearing it or reading it somewhere.
