DH and I will celebrate our 7th in July. He and I have always tried to give each other something that represents the traditional or modern gift for the year..even if just a small token item (he gave me cheapo spoons for our 5th which is silverware). The 7th is copper, wool, or desk sets. I'm struggling to think of something. A little about DH:
-He's an elem ed teacher administrator (not in a classroom)
-He doesn't wear any jewelry other than a watch and his wedding band.
-He has a pair of cuff links that I gave him on our wedding day. While he does wear shirt/tie daily to work, he's not dressed up enough for french cuffs often enough to warrant add't cuff links.
-He loves sports and has jersey's already for his two favorite teams.
-He does 95% of the cooking.
-He plants a veg garden every summer.
-He doesn't really have a hobby.
-He has a tendency to lose things like pens, keychains, etc.
Ideas? We are going to a pricey concert out of town on the day of our anniversary so I'm not looking to spend a fortune since tickets, hotel, gas, meals, etc will add up.

I bought a nice pen with an engraved case for my DH for our 7th anniversary, I shopped here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/thornbushpens
We were both really pleased, it turned out very nice. He does tend to lose pens, but still has this one a few years later - maybe because of the case?
Otherwise, what about a nice wool hat or scarf?

How about a copper planter - you could fill it with herbs for all the cooking he does:

I love the traditional wedding gifts! It is fun to try to find something that fits.
My first thought was since he does most of the cooking, what about a copper bowl? Most kitchen stores carry them, they're not very expensive, and they really do make a difference when whipping egg whites. With that said, it is a very limited use item.
Or, if you live in a cold weather area, what about a wool scarf? It's not cold now, but if you think it's something he could use for a long time, it could be a good idea. (That is reaching a little, I know!)
I hope you find the perfect gift and have a great anniversary!

I like that better than my copper bowl idea! :)

We had ours last year.... I had no idea where to look until I saw this:

I had our wedding date stamped on the back, and the maker found 2 2003 pennies for the keychain.
Very simple. And DH LOVED it.

If he likes to garden, how about something like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Luster-Leaf-Classic-Impressions-Ornamental/dp/B002LAS7BG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1306430510&sr=8-4
There are less frilly options too!
Happy anniversary!

Well those would be a major improvement over the twigs he breaks and spray paints white to designate rows!
