My dd is now 27 months old. She's been using Munchkin straw cups for well over a year and sometimes still likes a sippy for her morning milk.

I'm just wondering how long everyone uses the straw cups? I'm so tired of cleaning out the straw parts every night and I feel like I never get them "clean enough".
We buy new ones, but just wondering if there is something easier to clean for an older toddler? I don't mind them for water - or she'll use a cup without a lid for water -- just not sure what to do for milk.

Here's the one we've been using...

My kids started regular cups by then. DS2 uses take n toss with a straw in the car, if needed. Otherwise, of he wants a drink, I pour it in a glass ends he sits and drinks.

My Older DD is milk obsessed and always has been. After many milk spills and the need to have a cup for milk that she could use on the couch (in the car, ect.), we went with Camelbak bite valve cups (http://www.amazon.com/Camelbak-Better-1L-Bottle-Forest/dp/B002YWHEVU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306429549&sr=8-1). They do leak if left on their side, but it gives some added protection against spills while not being a "baby cup". DH and I use them as water bottles. Also, the parts go in the diswasher.

Ugh, cleaning the parts for straw cups drove me crazy--we only had a couple of them because they drove me nuts! We mostly switched over to small, regular cups by around 2 yrs old. I have a bunch of very small juice glasses (some plastic, some glass), and we mostly use those. I fill them about 1/2 full and we have had very few accidents. I started out only putting water in them until DS sort of got the hang of it. (I think we also practiced some in the bathtub or at the bathroom sink where spills didn't matter as much.) Also, DS really likes having the same cups as mommy and daddy during mealtime. For travel or times when DS won't be sitting at the table to drink (or when we have friends over and things are just kind of chaotic), I'll still break out the playtex insulated sippy cups (these ones, I think: http://www.playtexbaby.com/CupsMealtime/Insulator-Cup).
