What kind of pools do you guys have for your young toddlers? We will keep it on the deck and empty and refill each day. Are those hard plastic ones the best bet since they won't leak like a soft one?

We have two:

We had one last summer that was similar to the second one but multi colored. I liked that it was small but big enough for me to sit in there with him. We never got a hard plastic one just because they are harder to dump out each day and hard to store. I also don't feel bad replacing a $7 pool if it gets a tear or leak. I know several friends that love their water tables...or water/sand tables. Most just fill the whole thing with water and let the kids play.

We just have a small blow up pool with three tubes, it gets drained every day now because of the pine pollen scum on the water. It's easy to let a bit of air out and push down the side to drain it.

It seems I have spent a ton of money on little pools because I easily fall for the perfect photo of kids playing happily in clear blue water while mama sits nearby and watches the fun. I found that ones that "sprinkle" freeze my kids out because the water never warms up from the hose. The blow-up ones seem to get holes fairly easily - they are a lot of maintenance because you have to dump them every day, then put them somewhere they won't blow away overnight (okay, I'm lazy). If you fold them up before they dry, they get mildewy and gross but again, they blow away easily so it's hard to figure out how to care for them when water is not in them. Honestly, the cheap plastic ones seem to work the best and aren't a big deal if something happens to them because they're so inexpensive.

I got a 2 ring inflatable pool at Walmart for $8. I wouldn't mind replacing that if it got a hole in it.

I prefer an inflatable pool. I shudder at the thought of DD slipping and hitting the side of a hard plastic pool. We just throw it in the garage still inflated when we are done. Our pool last year did get a couple of tiny holes on the bottom. They were so small they didn't matter and we used it all summer. I did buy a new one this year.
