DS2 will be one (gasp!) in a few weeks and we're starting to be asked what relatives can get him.

I just started an amazon wish list for him but i'm curious what are the "hits" recently with this age bracket.

I really don't have anything left from DS1 for this age since i donated it all to his daycare way back when vs storing that stuff. I did though keep the wooden toys, wooden blocks and all the Thomas stuff.

My DS is 9 months, so not exactly there yet, but I have been to several 1-year old parties in the past few months, so I can throw out a few ideas of things I've seen.

Stacking blocks/buckets. They nest inside each other, and also have numbers on them to help kids learn numerical order.

A pricier item is the Anywhere Chair from Pottery Barn. Around $100, but there are different fabrics/prints to choose from. Free monogramming. Nice gift for a 1-year old.

Radio flyer type red wagon thing.

Hope that helps! :)

DD2 loves her Radio Flyer walker wagon I got a little before she turned 1. Her fave birthday gift was a sand and water table from her aunt. Plan Toys xylophone and wooden drum are great hits here. We also got the Yookidoo spout but haven't opened it yet due to mixed reviews.

We bought this B Zany Zoo (http://www.target.com/Zany-Zoo-Wooden-Activity-Cube/dp/B002YIX0XA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&keywords=zany%20zoo&fromGsearch=true&sr=1-1&qid=1307461719&rh=&searchRank=target104545&id=Zany%20Zoo%20Wooden%20Activity%20Cube&node=1038576%7C1287991011&searchSize=150&searchPage=1&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_ primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=0) for DD about a month ago. We couldn't wait for her b-day because she desperately needed new toys. She :heartbeat: it. She is also using it to pull herself up in a standing position (with us holding it, of course).

And we also got her number blocks like this B Elemenosqueeze Soft ABC Blocks (http://www.target.com/B-Elemenosqueeze-Soft-ABC-Blocks/dp/B002YIPI2G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&keywords=b.%20blocks&fromGsearch=true&sr=1-1&qid=1307462108&rh=&searchRank=target104545&id=B%20Elemenosqueeze%20Soft%20ABC%20Blocks&node=1038576%7C1287991011&searchSize=150&searchPage=1&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_ primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=0). They didn't have the alphabet ones at the store when I bought the number ones, but these look really cute! These will have to go on DD's list!

How about a monogrammed lovey, a build-a-bear (their first stuffed bear, maybe), or food/kitchen toys.

...

This was DD's "big gift" for her birthday from DH and I.

She's been playing with the one my nephew has since October.

At our house, she pushes it around our living room.
