Okay, so DD always goes out in the sun wearing her HA floppy sunhats. I've been thinking that I should sometimes also wear something to protect my head/face against the sun, since there have been several times lately when I've started to feel my head baking in the sunshine.

So, if you ever wear a hat out into the sun, what type do you wear? I'm looking for something I could wear while gardening, canoeing, or at the beach, but also something that's cute enough to just wear while running errands on foot.

Any ideas? TIA!

I prefer the look of floppy straw hats & fedoras vs. canvas hats for the summer & especially for the beach. Nothing too outrageous.
This is what I got for this summer (I love it):

And I'm thinking of getting one of these (they seem to offer a little more protection than the previous one):

coolibar had some cute ones. I also bought one at REI when they had their sale last week.

Ooohh!! I've been looking around too and found the PERFECT solution the other day! I love floppy hats or fedoras but they are hard to maintain IMO. I want/need a hat I can throw around yet still maintain its rim to keep the sun out. I'm sure they are in other places too but I found some at Urban Outfitters where the rim has wire in it so that you can shape it. The nice thing is too, the rim will always stay up. IME floppy hats don't last for too (maybe 1 season??) bc I just cannot be delicate with them.

I love the HA floppy sunhat. DD wears a babyGap version, but I do plan on purchasing a HA one once she eventually outgrows her babyGap one.

When I'm outdoors, I just wear a beige cap from a conference awhile ago - it's simple and sporty, and I tend to dress casually when I run errands.

I don't think it was that. Same light color but not as decorated with holes. There was a dark drown color too.

I went to Marshalls today and found one for 12.99!!!! Same moldable rim. It had a chin strap that I think looms way weird but I'm just going to tuck it in. So cheap!! There was another one there but the rim was waaayyyyy wide, if u like that.

Amazon sells shapeable floppy hats. Here is one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IPUJUK/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_9?ie=UTF8&m=A29C1X7T00R9X4

Thanks for all the suggestions! Didn't know Nordstrom had such a big selection of hats. I also looked up the Coolibar ones and they have lots of choices as well. I'll have to try some on and see which ones don't look dorky on me, for some reason lots of hats do.

I picked up the REI one yesterday (ship to store). I don't *love* it. It's pretty cute, but I think I might be able to do better. I do love the 50 SPF, though. That's why I'd probably look at Coolibar next.

I have a huge head - rarely can I find a hat that fits, never mind looks good. I have this one from coolibar, and LOVE it. get so many compliments. I have it in white with blue hibiscus underneath. I want to order a different color this year, too.

Wow! Those are awesome hats! I'll take one of each, every color, please! I had no idea Nordstrom had such nice reasonably priced hats. They aren't that expensive! I think I just figured out what I am using my gift card on! Now only if I could find the time to get there...
