View Full Version : Work heels that are still kick ass

This morning I realized that I need a pair of heels for work that will go with your basic black work pants, are office appropriate, yet still kick ass.
Jimmy Choo pumps are not in the budget unfortunately though. ;)
Our office is very casual and boots, flats or sandals usually work but I need something for meetings where I need to be more polished.
Probably something in black that can last a few seasons since I probably won't wear these all that often.
What do you grab in this situation?

My go-to kick ass heels and boots are all Prada. I know they are pricey but I have used them so much that the purchases have been totally worth it.

My favorite pair is similar to this one:

http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446389 375&afsrc=1&site_refer=GGLBASE001&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=ParentItem0468288126988

I can wear them with skirts, dresses and slacks and they always looks great. They are super comfortable too. It's an investment - but a worthwile one IMO.

Look at this pair:

Cole Haan has some nice ones too and they are not as pricey:

I can't stop staring at those Prada shoes but I think I can probably find a nice pair of Cole Haans that will do the trick too.

I like these

I vote for the carmas esp the sling back ones so they go with skirts as well - my opinion. have you checked the pumps at nine west? some of the black ones look elegant for work/meetings.

Love both! I think I prefer the second one though. More versatile.

Nordstrom.com some Cole Haan on sale - I ordered the Air Stephanie slingbacks a few days ago and they've gone on further sale (with an easy PA from Nordies!):

I love those! I've had my eye on them for a couple of weeks now. It's surprisingly hard to find a nice pair of black slingback peep toes. I may have to jump on these! Can you comment on size or how they fit?

So these are not exactly "kick ass" but they are a definite solid choice IMO.

I wasn't thinking patent necessarily but I think these would work well, yes?

I do think I might be borderline freakishly tall in the platform ones (like 6' 3") even though I do love the way they look. And while I want to work the tall angle, I don't want it to be a distraction.

I haven't tried these yet - but generally I find Cole Haan to run true to size. I have to size up to an 8 for some shoes, but a 7.5 fits perfectly in my other Cole Haans.

I do still like the Cole Haan ones though. Shoes as an investment..... DH would actually be totally on board with that logic.

I believe the saks shoe viewer qualifies as "shoe porn" - just watch those beautiful heels turn slowly! Those shoes are gorgeous!

I love those Prada shoes...however unless the decimal point in the price is moved a space to the left, I won't be slipping my feet into them any time soon.

Thanks for the info! I went ahead and ordered two sizes, and I'll return the one that doesn't fit. So excited!

You should check out luxury designer clearance shoes at www.dsw.com. I got a pair of comfortable but high heeled Gucci wedges from them that I paid >$60 shipped. They are navy so not as popular as black but go with bunch of things in my wardrobe (I wear a lot of blue for work) and at this price I was not about to be picky.

They have a ton of Sergio Rossi for $99. Shipping is free but I have to pay tax. They also have codes for % off frequently. The most recent one was $40 off $198 and $10 (?) off $99 purchase.

Thanks. They do have quite a bit of Sergio Rossi! Some of the colors and kind of funky but for $99 I could afford to get something crazier in addition to a solid black in something else. Hmmmm.

You might want to wait for another promotion, they have them all the time. The prices will go down even more, too, but the danger is that your size will sell out. Do sign up for DSW awards to get free shipping onapol apolthe orders $35 and higher. You'll also earn points toward $$ off and get additional codes. Nothing crazy, e.g. $5 off for your birthday, but still nice. Also, if you have DSW store nearby you might want to order your shoes in couple sizes, and return the ones that don't fit. I wish I did that since the SR sandals that I just received are kind of tight in my regular size.

I just checked, and the recent promo was $10 off $74, $20 off $149 and $40 off $199, so I ordered 2 pairs, but they are probably going back.

And I am waiting on luxury designer clearance sale, whereby all luxury designer shoes will be $199, to hopefully pick up a pair of Jimmy Choos at this price. You can't get them any cheaper than that, at least I don't know how.

Last but not least, Bloomingdales is doing presale for their private sale, you get $25 off each $100, you might want to check their prices for Cole Haan pumps you just ordered. Nordstrom would match Bloomies sale.
