I have a 2010 BJCM which I love. My MIL was in the market for a stroller for grandkids and was looking at spending over $200 on a stroller that would make NO sense for her needs, and thankfully talked her in to the BJCM. She purchased a 2011, and offered to give me her new one and she would take my 2010 since I use mine way more than she will use hers. I know there was a bit of a seat change in the 2011....is it an improvement? I haven't read fantastic things regarding the velcro straps. I have found that my 17 month old son slouches and looks uncomfortable, so I'm hoping the seat changes will make things better.

So, do the improvements really make a difference or no?

IMO the 2011 is definitely an improvement. The seat sits up a lot more and will give your LO a lot more back support. My 6 month old looked awful in the 2010 and was very slouched even when fully reclined, but in the 2011 she looked great and very comfortable.

I have the 2011 BJCMD and don't know much about the 2010, but I read you can buy the PE boards to insert into the 2010 seatbacks. Someone mentioned buying the 2010 (which is on sale now as retailers clear them out) and just getting the PE board.

Good luck!

Thanks! I can't wait for my MIL's to arrive so that I can see the difference my self. I was constantly readjusting my son in the seat. He didn't seem bothered by it, but I am. We have the belly bar that he always had either his feet on, or legs over so maybe that made him more comfortable?

I'm glad that I can get my hands on the 2011! I do wish basket accessibility was improved though.

Albee Baby has the boards for $15 (at least, they had them on Sunday when I was looking).

Wanted to bump this up again...
Has anyone seen how the PE board gets installed? Or how to install it?
I am still trying to chose between the cheaper 2010 w/boards added or if I should spend the money on the 2011.
Thanks!

I have a 2010 with PE board and the board just slips in the space behind the seat. Super easy. Helps some but it still doesn't have a real upright seat. Not sure how much of a difference the upright straps make.

I've had both the 2010 and 2011. The 2011 does sit more upright than the 2010 (even with each having boards), but depending on price, I wouldn't spend more than an extra $25 for the 2011 over the 2010. I never use the upright straps - they're kind of a pain IMO
On my 2010 I made a board that worked great.
The PE board just slips in the back - there is velcro at the top by the canopy.

I had both the 2010 and 2011 side-by-side yesterday. The 2011 seat is definitely better. My DS seemed much happier and comfortable in it than in the 2010. The velcro straps do make a bit of difference, and they could be a bit of a pain. You cannot recline the seat when using the velcro straps, but since we don't recline very often, it's fine with me.

My MIL just swapped strollers with me, so I got upgraded to the 2011 for free, and she took my 2010.

I've heard getting one of those trays or bumper bars is helpful so that the kid can pull him/herself up and sit up straight if they want to.

I bought a bumper bar with the 2010, but my son never really pulled himself up on it. He uses it more as a foot rest. Plus, I know I wouldn't want to hold myself up like that, so I wanted to make sure he was comfortable and able see around without supporting himself.
