Does anybody know where I can find pretend food that is made in America or a country other than China? I know Step 2 makes a lot of their products in America but I checked their website and the pretend food that you can buy separate from the play kitchen is made in China.

The Haba play food is made in Germany (wooden and felt)
Plan Toys wooden food is made in Thailand
Under the Nile organic cotton play food is made in Egypt

All should be available at maukilo.com or oompa.com, if not amazon or other mainstream sites.

I can't tell where it's made from the website, but Ikea has polyester play food sets that are affordable and very cute.

We have lots of the Ikea felt food and really like it. I tried to check the tags but apparently I cut them all off. I think you could live chat one of their CS reps and ask them. You can do this from their website.

Madeinusaforever.com is a site which helps to list products made in the US. If you find products that aren't on the list, email them and they will work on adding it.

I didn't see any play food. What about Melissa and Doug? Where is that made? (a word of caution, we have M&D play food and certain pieces were taken away b/c they were simply too big and solid. The milk, Oj and yogurt become projectile misselles on several occasions.)

I have a lot of the M&D stuff from when DD1 was little with a bit of Haba thrown in. With DD2, I've been adding in felt play food like you see on Etsy (similar to the Ikea food). It is pretty easy to make and there are a ton of free tutorials.

M&D is MIC but to very high standards (per M&D) The best bet for USA made is etsy. There is a lot of cute fabric food on there. http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=play+food
ETA: I love that this comes with Mickey Mouse nuggets  http://www.etsy.com/listing/57828656/felt-food-deluxe-hamburger-set?ref=sr_list_7&ga_search_query=play+food&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade

green toys now makes play food (out of totally recycled materials) in the us. We've really liked their other toys.

(I think this is cuter than the M&D sandwich set, which DS has).
