I'm 28 weeks with my second child and have been having some pelvic pain and lower back pain. My OB suggested that I look into a maternity band.

Bella Band seems popular, so I looked into that, but their website says that the band is used to increase the life of your clothing not provide any support. I assume that's the same with the Target one since it's made by the same company.

Is there a brand that is for providing support to relieve back and pelvic pain? Anyone have one that they like?

Thanks.

I had this one
http://www.amazon.com/Prenatal-Cradle-Adjustable-Small/dp/B000I5UARA/ref=sr_1_69?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1308523714&sr=1-69

It didn't help much made me even more uncomfortable. There is more at amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_n_1?rh=n%3A3760901%2Ck%3Amaternity%2Cn%3 A%213760931%2Cn%3A3760941&bbn=3760931&keywords=maternity&ie=UTF8&qid=1308523685&rnid=3760931
but very little or no reviews.
I think some exercise esp. stretching or yoga would help more than this belts.

Good luck!

Yup, the Bella Band is not for support. It's to wear your pre-pregnancy clothes longer or sooner post partum. I had a hand me down belt but I believe it was from Motherhood.

I got one at Motherhood like this.
http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=973050113&MasterCategory_Id=MC32

It helped a ton. I couldn't walk at all if I didn't wear it, but when I had it on it was so much better.

I've also had very bad lower back pain; (was out from work last week due to it) and I really like the extra support that the Pregnancy Cradle provides!!

http://www.amazon.com/Original-Prenatal-Cradle-Pregnancy-Support/dp/B001OTEJ4Y

Just make sure that you get the correct size, making sure that it is tight enough on your waist is important! I haven't tried the kind that wraps under the pelvis but I could see how it would be better support-wise. One thing to note is that I wear a lightweight shirt under it so that its more comfortable (like a $6 cheap long-tank from H&M). I don't think I would wear is directly against my skin since the material can be rough on the edges.

I'd also tried this one: http://www.amazon.com/Soft-Form-Maternity-Support-Universal/dp/B000Q174GQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1308532510&sr=1-2

But I don't like it as much as the pregnancy cradle, its much more bulky and I don't think it distributes the weight as well as the pregnancy cradle.

On a side note; Ice packs and pillows (to sit on) really help reduce the pain! I've also been trying the Miracle Ball Method for Pregnancy, http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Ball-Method-Pregnancy-Relieve/dp/0761160973/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308532629&sr=1-1-catcorr It seems to help relieve some of the sciatica pain.

Good luck! I hope your back is feeling better ASAP!

I had tons of lower back (sacro-iliac) and pelvic (pubic symphysis) pain with my last pregnancy. My sister, who's a physical therapist, recommended I buy a sacro-iliac belt from a company called OPTP. I think it was called SI-LOC. It helped me so much! It offers way more support than any of those fabric ones does. After a while my belly got so big and oddly shaped that it wouldn't stay on, so that was a real bummer. Hopefully that won't happen to you, though - my baby was giant (over 10#) and I am tiny (105#).

Good luck!

YES! YES! YES!

This is exactly what my PT recommended for me postpartum with DS2 after I had a separated pubic symphasis. It has helped alot during this pregnancy too "hold" my pelvis together. Once you put it in place, it stays pretty well compared to anything else out there. It does not stretch out and the velcro is strong.

I got this one http://www.amazon.com/Prenatal-Cradle-Mini-Medium-181-225/dp/B000I5UASY/ref=acc_glance_hpc_ai_ps_t_6. Every time I wear it rather than feel supported I start cramping :(

I dunno if I should have gotten a bigger size, but it fits me snug not too tight, but its stiff and I think when I sit, it puts pressure on my lower belly.

I asked my OB and she recommended babyhugger.com. (http://www.coreproducts.com/asp_catalog/catalog.asp?pca=471) I'm tempted to try it - its to be used as "replacement underwear" which seems a bit strange but if it alleviates the pain it may be well worth it!

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! I'll look into these.
