My little girl (1 year old) is just starting to walk. She typically goes barefoot around the house, but now she needs some sort of shoe for outside. I have a few different pairs, but the problem is she is always taking them off.

I thought about the Robeez type shoes - but aren't these more of an indoor shoe? I don't know how they would work for outside at the park. My boys always wore these, but when they were starting to walk it was always winter and they were indoors. ty!

Mine wore Robeez everywhere for about their first two years--the park included. :)

We used the MiniStar by Bobux (from Target) until DD got more confident on her feet.

Then I took her to Stride Rite to reacquaint myself with fitting a kid's foot properly. We bought a pair of Velcro-ed sneakers as I didn't want to deal with tying bows while trying to get her shoes on.

We're looking into fisherman sandals from See Kai Run, but I have to measure her feet before I order.

DD is 14 months and a sturdy walker. We use the Stride Rite SRT shoes. They have a rubber sole but are very flexible, so great for outside (especially if she has to walk on something that is gravely or sharp). The velcro makes them hard to get off (although not impossible). We really like them. I have a pair of Shoo Shoos for her as well, but they are very wide and not very tall so they don't fit DD's feet that well. Plus the smallest size they come in for the shoes with soles is a 5 and DD is more of a 4.5. I am not a huge fan of See Kai Run as the pair I had were worn through in just 2 months. We just got DD a pair of crocs and so far so good.

I loved Pedipeds and SKR at that stage, they both have such nice flexible soles. I don't know if they are hard enough to get off for you. Here are some cute ones

My new favorite new walker shoes are skidders (http://myskidders.com/). They sell them on their own website but also in Target (B&M and online (http://www.target.com/Skidders/b?ie=UTF8&node=1265180011)). They are cute, virtually indestructible and machine washable. They dry fast too, so we've used them as water shoes as well. The tops are like socks and the bottoms are made of extremely flexible rubber with good traction. Can you tell I love them? :love-retry:

DD needed something more stable and she had to have a regular sole for daycare (they did not allow soft soles once they could stand). We had a pair of SR similar to these and she NEVER was able to get the off herself when they were doubleknotted.

I think laceups, in general, will stay on better. And make sure to go for regular laces. Those big, flat, thick laces never stay tied!

Robeeze makes a shoe simlar to their soft soled ones, but with a harder sole. I just fell in love with Salt Water sandals. They have a regular buckle... no Velcro. Very flexible too.

We got her these from Stride Rite:

The slip-on style shoes never worked. She'd yank them off in a heartbeat. Once we switched to these, we never had a problem with her taking them off.

I kept DD1 in Robeez at home, daycare, and occaisionally the park until she was about 18 months old. They held up quite well, and I can eventually use them for DD2 when she is about 2 yrs. old (DD2 has really tiny feet).

We got DD1 See Kai Runs with the softer stitched sole (http://www.seekairun.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=KENZI) and they worked out great for the month she wore them (I bought them too small), and then I got some Stride Rite hand me downs similar to these (http://www.striderite.com/store/SiteController/striderite/productdetails?catId=cat1530399SR&productId=8-121041&skuId=***8********BG35824*W050&stockNumber=BG35824&showDefaultOption=true) from a friend and they worked out well too, they were suprisingly flexible. Please keep in mind with Stride Rite that if your DD has a wide and larger foot the SRT shoes do not come in an XW width:cry:, but thankfully the Robeez still worked, and the SKRs ran a bit wide.

I have since found with DD2 that I prefer Original Bobux to the newer Robeez in style and in construction. DD2 never tries to take off her shoes. She does try to take off her Pediped Originals though, but she is not walking yet. Pedipeds also just came out with the Grip N Go shoes, but I haven't tried them yet as DD2. Nordstrom does have a super cute pair though in the Anniversary sale catalog.
